The Good Life

Hello again everyone! I’ve been missing in action as per usual, mostly due to my boyfriend and dedicated photographer being at work all the time. Saturday however, we snapped a few pictures before going out for dinner and drinks.

I would like to take a moment to express how awesome I think my hair is looking ever since I got a curling iron. I don’t know why I didn’t buy one a million years sooner.

A few weeks ago I wrote about how I really wanted to get super fit this Summer. Part of why I haven’t been blogging very much is because I completely and utterly failed to live up to that resolution, haha. Not only have I not been going to the gym enough and the chubz are slowly but surely piling up in some places, I’m also retaining a lot of water in my body, which explains why I look so bloated and round in these photographs. I can barely fit into my jeans these days, and I’ve been getting quite a lot of baby-related questions and comments too, which is really crazy.

I’m making a conscious effort to not let it get to me but like most people I have my ups and downs. Getting older is weird – as a kid you’re always told how your body is going to change when you hit puberty but quite honestly I wasn’t prepared for the adolescent-to-adult change, where suddenly your metabolism is like “yo fuck it dawg it’s my turn to chillax now” and the way you eat suddenly has consequences for your health and the way your body looks. Dammit.

Part of me really wants to go back to my tiny 18-year old body but then again when I think about it, I was just as insecure as I am today (maybe even more so), so I guess it’s a symptom of a larger issue – a way of taking control of things (only thing I’m in control of right now is a pack of pretzel sticks lolz), yet eloping from responsibilities at the same time.

Fuck it, I just want to start a kitty ranch and drink cocktails in a hammock for life.

  1. Weight fluctuations basically control my life–dictating what I can wear and if I even want to venture outside and see people that day. I think you look great here though, and that curling iron did a great job on your hair. Also, could we get a close up of that necklace in the future? It looks really unique.

    Another Beautiful Thing

  2. Ik doe mee met de kitty ranch en cocktails!
Ben je er al achter waarom je zoveel water ophield? Ik HAAT het als ik niet meer in mijn broeken pas, dan voel je je pas echt slecht. Ik ken het gevoel 😉

Look, I get it. No one really reads beauty blogs anymore. But just like Gretchen just won't stop trying to make fetch happen, I won't ever give up on the written medium. Because there is just so much more to good makeup, skincare and fragrance than how they look as a prop in a photograph.

At Pretty Sharp you'll find honest beauty reviews, news bits along with occasional fashion/style/personal related articles. No clickbait. No bullshit
